  • Bluegrass video clips shot with Canon 5D Mark II

Short video of the Friday Night Jamboree in Floyd, Virginia. Shot as a test of the capabilities of the Canon 5D, Mark II, DSLR.

Video clips are part of larger project of updated documentary on the Jamboree. My wife and I originally filmed a 30-minute doc on the event in 2002 in SD, using a Canon XL1s (video can be found at http://www.blueridgemuse.com/node/1389).

We are currently working on an updated version in HD using a Sony V1U as primary camera and Z1U as secondary. Based on this experience, the Canon 5D will probably replace the Z1U.

    Details:

All shots handheld, using 5DII with Canon 24-70 f/2.8 zoom lens.

No color correction on files. Images are as they came out of the camera. Everything available light.

Sound recorded with a Sony Sony UWP-V6 wireless mike transmitter attached to a Shure microphone on stage and receiver mounted on hot shoe of camera.

Band playing at beginning of clip was base track, laid down as background with sound eliminated on cutaway shots.

    Edited in Final Cut Pro.
