Every step of our process is developed by first listening to our conscience and basing decisions on our desire to enact change for the better. Fortunately, by bringing you the highest quality coffee available we are also able to help farmers across the world make a living wage and reduce our impact on the environment. Here are just a few examples of how our company strives to make a difference: * Currently, all of our coffees are Fair Trade Certified. By choosing a FairTrade certified product, you are directly supporting a better life for farming families through fair prices, direct trade, community development, and environmental stewardship. * We currently buy only organic green coffee. However, we are NOT currently an organic certified manufacturer. Purchasing organic coffees assures that both laborers and the watersheds they drink from and plant crops on are kept free of dangerous pesticides. * Our in house bulk bags are 100% biodegradable and 100% recyclable, with the exception of the tin-tie. Our in house sample cups are compostable as well. * All of our bags are printed with water-based ink by FloydEcoPrint, meaning no environmentally harmful plastisol. * Instead of more bags, we give our regional wholesale customers recyclable steel tins to be refilled whenever they need. * We believe in re-use. For example, both of our doors are made from the salvaged floor joists of our renovated retail space by co-owner and master woodworker Benjie Osborne. Also, our burlap jute bags are made into handbags and reusable bean totes. * We donate our nitrogen rich chaffe to a local organic farm for use in their compost heap, helping those growing veggies stay up late.
