1990 - Floyd Friday Night Jamboree
A visit to the Friday Night Jamboree at Cockram's Store in Floyd, Va., where the Friday Night Jamboree was held. This was a somber evening as there was a memorial service for Lissie (sp.) Cockram, the owner's mother, so it was not typical. I filmed this on a GE VHS camcorder on April 20, 1990, and converted it to DVD on a desktop unit on May 20, 2010.Published 3 months ago

Coffee Roaster -Red Rooster Floyd Virginia - Organic- Retail Wholesale
http://www.redroostercoffeeroaster.com http://www.floydfolks.org & http://www.littlefamilyfarm.com 1-540-808-2880 - floydlcfgroup@gmail - PO box 179 Floyd,Virginia ------- Red Rooster Coffee Roaster- Coffee with a Conscience At Red Rooster Coffee Roaster our mission begins with social, environmental and economic consciousness. Every step of our process is developed by first listening to our conscience and basing decisions on our desire to enact change for the better. Fortunately, by bringing you the highest quality coffee available we are also able to help farmers across the world make a living wage and reduce our impact on the environment. Here are just a few examples of how our company strives to make a difference: * Currently, all of our coffees are Fair Trade Certified. By choosing a FairTrade certified product, you are directly supporting a better life for farming families through fair prices, direct trade, community development, and environmental stewardship. * We currently buy only organic green coffee. However, we are NOT currently an organic certified manufacturer. Purchasing organic coffees assures that both laborers and the watersheds they drink from and plant crops on are kept free of dangerous pesticides. * Our in house bulk bags are 100% biodegradable and 100% recyclable, with the exception of the tin-tie. Our in house sample cups are compostable as well. * All of our bags are printed with water-based ink by FloydEcoPrint, meaning no environmentally harmful plastisol. * Instead of more bags, we give our regional wholesale customers recyclable steel tins to be refilled whenever they need. * We believe in re-use. For example, both of our doors are made from the salvaged floor joists of our renovated retail space by co-owner and master woodworker Benjie Osborne. Also, our burlap jute bags are made into handbags and reusable bean totes. * We donate our nitrogen rich chaffe to a local organic farm for use in their compost heap, helping those growing veggies stay up late. Red Rooster Coffee Roaster's future commitments to social, environmental & economic good. * We hope to join a direct trade cooperative to further our goal of paying farmers a living wage. * We will join Coffee Kids in order to give some of our own profits to an organization dedicated to helping coffee growers and their families. * We hope to be a certified organic manufacturer by 2011. ---This video was produced by the LCF Group, ( We are on The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Round The Mountain Artisan and Craftsman Venue as a great place to visit ) Floyd Professional Center, Village Green, Floyd Virginia. Antique Vacuum Radio Tube Lamp Collection - LCF Group Floyd Virginia
http://www.floydfolks.org & http://www.littlefamilyfarm.com 1-540-808-2880 - floydlcfgroup@gmail - PO box 179 Floyd,Virginia 24091---Antique Vacuum Radio Tube Lamp Collection-1.Lightening arrester. When clouds were charged, these charged particles of rain would come down and hit the antenna. The neon light inside the arrester would flicker showing the charged rain particles were going to ground. The "ooh-ah" factor. 2.Amprex tube dated 1963. From a transmitting tube. In consider the pin configuration quite unusual. 3.World War II field can opener. A pocket slip stick (slide rule). Accuracy to 2 decimal places. World War II tubes used in one of the first handy-talkies. The tubes were physically wired to cut down on corrosion and rough handling. The batteries that supplied power were referred to as house bricks because of their weight. 4.Photocell tube that was used in a movie projector. Made 1959 30th week. Triode of unknown use. No known use. It was selected because it reminded mo of a UFO. The pins were soldered in a socket. 5.0526 Unknown use EF 12K A German Telefunken tube A dual tube used in a transmitter 6.The blue glass was used in the early 1930's to make the customer think he has a better tube than the standard glass. Some tubes ere blue, others had a rainbow effect to the glass. These were psychological only. 7.This was purchased at a Flee Market in Geronimo, OK. It is an iron wire commercial power insulator. We think it was hit by lightening. I have never seen one like this before. When handling use extreme caution because I feel one hard drop it will break into pieces. If you take your finger and rub over the surface you will feel that the crazing of the glass is all interior as the inside and outside is smooth. There is a chip on the edge which is sharp. 8.¾" cathoray tube used in possible a transmitter where the balancing of the output has to be in phase. 9.Triode vacuum tube is a true experimental model. I feel this glass envelope at one time was an incandescent light. I believe it is called an Illuminline. These lights ere used in show cases where the filament was extended for the full length of the lamp. Notice that the plate and grind appear to be hand wound. And the filament is strictly a straight wire. There is even a gitter at the base of the tube. 10.Vacuum capacitor 11.Telephone insulator 12.World War II Breast microphone. A Chick Sits On Our Border Collie's Back
I heard a chick chirping and thought is was coming from a basement window well as they occasionally jump in one. Then I saw Lucy in the well as she often follows the chicks around. I was worried that Lucy was sitting on the chick but as I got closer I saw the chick chirping away on Lucy's back while Lucy waited patiently for the chick to escape. Also there is a clip of the broody hen and her chicks being herded back to their house.Published 1 week ago

Intel Intellec 4 Microcomputer System - 4004 microprocessor Floyd Virginia
http://www.floydfolks.org & http://www.littlefamilyfarm.com 1-540-808-2880 - floydlcfgroup@gmail - PO box 179 Floyd,Virginia 24091---The 4004 was released on November 15, 1971.[2] Packaged in a 16-pin ceramic dual in-line package, the 4004 was the first commercially available computer processor designed and manufactured by chip maker Intel, which had previously made semiconductor memory chips. The chief designers of the chip were Federico Faggin and Ted Hoff of Intel, and Masatoshi Shima of Busicom (later of ZiLOG, founded by Faggin). Faggin, the sole chip designer among the engineers on the MCS-4 project, was the only one with experience in MOS random logic and circuit design. He also had the crucial knowledge of the new silicon gate process technology with self-aligned gates, which he had created at Fairchild in 1968. At Fairchild in 1968, Faggin also designed and manufactured the world's first commercial IC using SGT — the Fairchild 3708. As soon as he joined the Intel MOS Department he created a new random design methodology based on silicon gate, and contributed many technology and circuit design inventions that enabled a single chip microprocessor to become a reality for the first time. His methodology set the design style for all the early Intel microprocessors and later for the Zilog's Z80. He also led the MCS-4 project and was responsible for its successful outcome (1970-1971). Ted Hoff, head of the Application Research Department, contributed only the architectural proposal for Busicom working with Stan Mazor in 1969, then he moved on to other projects. Shima designed the Busicom calculator firmware and assisted Faggin during the first six months of the implementation. The manager of Intel's MOS Design Department was Leslie L. Vadász.[3] At the time of the MCS-4 development, Vadasz's attention was completely focused on the mainstream business of semiconductor memories and he left the leadership and the management of the MCS-4 project to Faggin. The Japanese company Busicom had designed their own special purpose LSI chipset for use in their Busicom 141-PF calculator with integrated printer and commissioned Intel to develop it for production. However, Intel determined it was too complex and would use non-standard packaging and so it was proposed that a new design produced with standard 16-pin DIP packaging and reduced instruction set be developed.[4] This resulted in the 4004, which was part of a family chips, including ROM, DRAM and serial to parallel shift register chips. The 4004 was built of approximately 2,300 transistors and was followed the next year by the first ever 8-bit microprocessor, the 2,500 transistor 8008 (and the 4040, a revised 4004). It was not until the development of the 40-pin 8080 in 1974 that the address and data buses would be separated, giving faster and simpler access to memory. This video was produced by the LCF Group, ( We are on The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Round The Mountain Artisan and Craftsman Venue as a great place to visit ) Floyd Professional Center, Village Green, Floyd Virginia. Bernie Coveney- how he became a musician and moved to Floyd Va.wmv
lcfgroup — May 19, 2010 — http://www.floydfolks.org & http://berniecoveney.com http://www.littlefamilyfarm.com 1-540-808-2880 - floydlcfgroup@gmail - PO box 179 Floyd,Virginia 24091---- Bernie Coveney Musician, Songwriter, Entertainer Bernie Coveney A musical journey home Although he was raised in the highlands of New Jersey, it was the sounds of the southern hill country that drew Bernie Coveney's earliest musical interest. Some might consider it happenstance when he was asked to join Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters at the age of 17 for an impromptu session. But if you don't believe in coincidence, then you know he was being brought "into the circle" by one of the matriarchs of country music. The early 60's found Bernie and childhood friend John Carlini, listening to WWVA (Wheeling, WVA) on the AM car radio in John's driveway. Hooked by the likes of Earl Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers, they seemed strangely out of place as rock and the British invasion captured those around them. But the music of the mountains was still at their core. Vietnam was full-on as Bernie and John gigged around the TriState area mixing bluegrass and folk to an ever widening audience. But college sent them in different directions. Meeting again in Virginia Beach (while John was attending the Navy School of Music), Bernie joined the working band Group Nine. The bands rehearsal space was downstairs from an unknown young singer, Emmylou Harris, who asked Bernie to back her up. They headed for New York where they recorded Emmylou's demo. Life happens, and Bernie as a single dad eventually found his way back to NJ teaching guitar. One of his more notable students was Robert Duval for his role in Tender Mercies. He also worked on the movie King of the Gypsies, with Stephane Grappelli, John Carlini, and David Grisman. Further widening his circle, he played with Tex Logan, Peter Rowan, Jerry Jeff Walker, Danny Flowers, Butch Robins, Bill Monroe, Mike Seeger, and Ralph Rinzler. - This video was produced by the LCF Group, ( We are on The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Round The Mountain Artisan and Craftsman Venue as a great place to visit ) Floyd Professional Center, Village Green, Floyd Virginia.
